Porta da Ravessa
The ex-libris of Adega
de Redondo
The brand Porta da Ravessa is responsible for some of the most impressive numbers that the winery can be proud of
But the truth is that a lot has been done in order to not only sustain the quality of the products, but also to increase the portfolio. The results of this work are reflected in the number of consumers and the recognition that the brand has been given by some of the most important national and international critics.
Porta da Ravessa is the flagship wine of Adega de Redondo, bringing the name and image of the town of Redondo and the Alentejo region to millions of consumers.
The brand derives its name from the emblematic door of the 14th century wall that gives access to the historic area of Redondo. Being located to the north of the walled enclosure, Porta da Ravessa (also known as Porta do Sol – The Sun Door) was part of the road that connected Évora to Badajoz. As the centerpiece of the urban environment, the administrative structure of the town was centered on that door. Evidences of that can be found in the engraving on the stone of the official marks of the stick and cubit, old length measurements that served as a standard for medieval merchants and peddlers. Since 1990, Porta da Ravessa has been a reference when it comes to wines from Alentejo. The first choice of countless connoisseurs, the brand currently unfolds into 11 different references that have in common impeccable quality, marked genuineness and wide availability. They are wines for all moments, wines of pleasure and for sharing, wines with Alentejo flavor.
